Job summary

Americold Logistics LLC is seeking a maintenance leader to supervise maintenance associates and guide repairs of refrigeration and material handling equipment at our New Jersey facility.

You will oversee troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and contractor activities while promoting safety and continuous improvement across shifts. Strong CMMS skills and PSM compliance are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, or minimum 2 years plus supervisory experience.
• Skilled in industrial refrigeration, material handling equipment, dock doors and levelers, plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance.
• Must complete assigned industrial refrigeration and maintenance courses and obtain HAZMAT certification.
• Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office.

What You'll Do

You will oversee and guide maintenance associates to ensure department objectives are met while performing maintenance technician duties. You will lead troubleshooting, repair, and adjustment of refrigeration and material handling equipment, monitor system performance, and recommend corrective actions. You will coordinate contractor activities, maintain preventive maintenance records, and support continuous improvement efforts across the site.

Essential Functions

• Provide oversight and guidance to maintenance associates to ensure execution of department objectives and assignments.
• Perform operation, repair, and adjustment of refrigeration systems and material handling equipment.
• Monitor equipment and system performance, recommend corrective actions, and analyze reliability and availability.
• Troubleshoot building, refrigeration, and equipment systems to drive root cause analysis and implement solutions.
• Direct and oversee contractor work and inspect completed tasks for compliance with specifications and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
• Support capability development of facility technicians and ensure effective communication across all maintenance shifts.
• Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.

What Experience and Education You Need

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, or minimum 2 years of industrial maintenance experience plus supervisory or lead experience.
• Skilled in industrial refrigeration, material handling equipment, dock door and leveler, plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance.
• Required to complete assigned industrial refrigeration and maintenance courses and obtain HAZMAT certification.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in an industrial setting, and proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements

• Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation).
• Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. (9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs.
• Able to work in confined areas.
• Able to climb ladders and stairs.
• Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
• Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.
• Able to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. (Use of contacts is prohibited when working with ammonia.)
• Depending on specific role, able to pass a physical and respiratory/respirator fit exam.
• Able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment.
• Able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment required for any/all tasks.

The Company’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting for this position is $26.00 to $38.75 hourly.
