K2D seeks a Maintenance Lead to support the Maintenance Supervisor, guiding technicians in preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment. Qualifications

Job Title: Maintenance Lead

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

This position provides tactical support to the Maintenance Supervisor by ensuring Maintenance Technician support the efficient operation of the operating facility and its equipment by performing mechanical functions (i.e. replacements, installs, upgrades, etc.) and general maintenance of equipment. Guides identifying and preventing maintenance failures, ensures quick response to unforeseen events, and possesses the technical and mechanical ability to see needed repairs are completed. Serves as a quasi-supervisor in all tactical maintenance functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Be intimately aware of the work experience requirement for Maintenance Technicians at the I, II and Senior levels to guide their work efforts. Provide feedback, instruction and guidance to all hourly maintenance staff. Work closely with Maintenance Management to give them the needed perspective optimize projects and human capital.
  • Maintain competency regarding machine operation components, pumping operations, the installation of VFD units on production equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot blower equipment/system components. Understand product packaging troubleshooting, be able to repair electrical equipment and control circuits, troubleshoot and repair PLC/electronic based equipment. Complete assignments or Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks and Work Orders (WO).
  • Champion all safety rules (e.g. powered industrial trucks, fall protection, L.O.T.O., hot work permitting, etc.) and consistently use personal protective equipment as required. Maintain departmental tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory, and identify needed parts from the inventory sheets and/or manuals and provide in/out documentation for parts inventory usage.
  • Reports food safety and quality issues, corrective actions, and preventative measures to management. Ensure basic hygiene training, GMP’s, HACCP, allergen control, food safety and quality requirements and actively supports prerequisite programs as required.
  • Learn how employees meet Performance Measurement Standards (e.g. productivity, attendance, tardiness, safety, and quality). Trains in skills needed to communicate with employees regarding pertinent information for daily, event or seasonal business issues. Develops and understanding of how individual employee’s productivity support business objectives.
  • Performs routine walking/visual inspections of work areas to observe unsafe acts or conditions; takes immediate corrective action where necessary to develop and meet plant safety goals. Is actively involved in safety efforts including, attending safety meetings, incident investigations, assisting in root cause analysis, auditing, as assigned. Coaches employees on safe procedures. Is actively involved in safety efforts.
  • Develops knowledge of products and equipment to ensure the ability to direct employees to perform the job properly, and to maintain the desired requirements. Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with HACCP and USDA regulations; taking corrective or training actions as necessary. Helps maintain departmental supplies, tools, and equipment. Learns how, but does not deliver corrective actions, terminations, and performance records. Learns how to provide production reports, inventory processes, quality reports, maintenance work orders.

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with electrical systems, conveyors, power equipment vehicles within a warehouse or distribution.
  • Excellent reading, communication, and organizational skills. Must be proficient in the use of a Personal Computer (PC) and related business software. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other associates of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
