Job summary

MSI Express, INC invites applications for a Maintenance Intern to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting. You will assist in preventive maintenance, participate in reliability projects, and help document activities while engaging with leaders across the company.

The internship runs for 10 weeks in Summer 2027, with a Monday–Friday schedule totaling about 40 hours per week. The role pays $19.00/hour and does not include traditional benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting mindset.
• Currently enrolled in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Engineering, or a related program.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, scheduling, and documenting preventive maintenance activities.
• Support initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
• Participate in equipment inspections and troubleshoot mechanical or operational issues.
• Support work order management, parts inventory tracking, and maintenance records.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams on continuous improvement initiatives.

Internship Details:

• Duration: 10 weeks (Summer 2027)
• Schedule: Monday – Friday; Approximately 8 hours per day/40 hours per week

About the Role:

As a Maintenance Intern, you will gain hands‑on experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Preventive Maintenance Support: Assist in planning, scheduling, and documenting preventive maintenance activities.
• Equipment Reliability Projects: Support initiatives focused on improving equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
• Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Participate in equipment inspections and assist with troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve mechanical or operational issues.
• Maintenance Systems & Documentation: Support work order management, parts inventory tracking, and maintenance records within company systems.
• Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Work with maintenance and operations teams to identify opportunities for equipment and process improvements.

• Ability to read and interpret technical information and documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Currently enrolled in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Engineering, or a related academic program.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments.
• Frequent exposure to production areas with varying temperatures, noise levels, moving machinery, forklifts, and other industrial conditions.
• Must follow all safety requirements and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout manufacturing facilities.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated platforms as necessary.
• Must be able to occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and work around equipment during project activities.
• Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Periodic travel may be required to other MSI Express locations and end‑of‑internship events.
