Job description

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of Lead Inspectors, the HNO Maintenance Inspector ensures the mechanical integrity of fixed mechanical equipment within their assigned unit. This includes pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping and components, filters, heat exchangers, heaters, boilers, relief devices, platforms, ladders, handrails, and structures at both sites. The goal is to confirm that plant equipment is fit for continued or new service, covering all phases from design to decommissioning.

Job Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Perform visual inspections and prepare reports.
  2. Analyze UT data.
  3. Follow and PSSR all MOCs affecting the MI program.
  4. Participate in RCIs.
  5. Address operational questions and concerns.
  6. Maintain relief valve data.
  7. Initiate and track deferrals of fixed equipment as needed.
  8. Maintain communication with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  9. Adhere to all MI procedures.
  10. Perform clamp inspections, inspect and stamp bundles, review ITPs, identify CUI areas, perform NDE, review engineering packages, and conduct tank leg, ladder, handrail, and platform inspections.
  11. Manage fixed equipment jobs from start to finish, including maintenance, projects, and turnarounds.
  12. Ensure correctness of final construction packages and material compliance.
  13. Review x-rays, pressure tests, WPS, PQR, WPQ, insulation, and painting adherence.
  14. Conduct shop fabrication inspections and ensure code compliance.
  15. Read and interpret P&IDs, drawings, and isometrics.
  16. Verify cathodic protection systems and create piping isometrics.
  17. Develop repair plans and report KPIs.
Required Qualifications:
  • API 510 certification, with a plan to obtain API 570 within a year.
  • Minimum 5 years of inspection experience in a chemical plant or refinery.
  • Ability to climb ladders and carry 50 pounds.
  • Valid TWIC card or ability to obtain one.
  • Valid driver’s license for travel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Drawing TrueView.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NBIC, ASME, API, ASTM, NFPA, NACE).
  • Understanding of DOT and Coast Guard regulations.
  • Familiarity with PCMS, Maximo, and Oracle systems.
  • Working knowledge of RBI programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • API 570 and 653 certifications.
  • CWI or CAWI certification.
  • Level II or III PT, MT, UTT certifications.
  • Experience with film interpretation.
