Job summary

Hi-Lex Controls is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair and improve building and plant equipment at our Cusseta, AL facility. You will read blueprints and electrical schematics, troubleshoot relay logic, PLCs, and perform preventive maintenance on machinery and utilities.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of manufacturing maintenance experience, proficiency with power tools, lathe, mill, welding equipment, and forklift operation.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with power tools, lathe, mill, welders, calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems in relay logic and PLCs.
• Maintains machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Relocates plant equipment and installs electrical, pneumatic, and water line connections.
• Performs preventive maintenance on machinery and facilities including Building and Grounds.
• Reads blueprints and electrical schematics to locate issues.
• Inspects parts and devices for dimensional tolerances and wear.
• Operates forklift and adheres to safety rules.

Job Location: DDHLA (Alabama) - Cusseta, AL 36852 Position Type: Full-Time Job Shift: Second Shift Performs duties to maintain and repair a variety of building and plant equipment and construct facility, production and office work areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Working with blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems involving relay logic, programmable controllers and electronic devices. Reads ladder logic and hard wiring blueprints.
• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate cause of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Starts and tests devices to determine performance.
• Performs preventive maintenance on machinery, Building and Grounds.
• Makes replacement parts, prototype equipment, jigs and fixtures.
• Relocate plant equipment; make necessary electrical, pneumatic and water line connections.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Will take intermediate level of responsibility to Safety for Employees and Building and Plant and Grounds

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

• Serves as a member of various committees as needed.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
• Temporary job fill in for absentees on production lines.
• Will drive forklift truck from time to time.
• Some movement of Material to and from production lines including shipping and receiving of material.
• Follows all safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED TRAINING, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE

• Use of power tools, lathe, mill, all types of welders, levels, plumb bobs and straight edges, rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments, some trigonometry. Has 1-3 year’s experience. Some forklift truck experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Also works in factory environment with noise from manufacturing environment. Exposure to moving equipment, parts and electrical shock. Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment. Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects – weighing up to 25 pounds.
