Job summary

JBS USA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Omaha to inspect, maintain, and repair machinery used in the facility. You will disassemble equipment for maintenance, operate hoists, and perform routine preventive tasks while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role requires basic computer skills and the ability to work with hydraulic/pneumatic systems, with overtime and weekend hours possible as needed. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

  • Requires basic mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability to read manuals and schematics.
  • Experience in food industry is a plus but not required.
  • Willingness to work in varied temperatures and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test machinery to ensure proper functioning.
  • Dismantle machines to access defective parts using hand/power tools.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on drives, motors, belts, and pumps.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls and repair as needed.
  • Operate hoists and other lifting equipment safely.
  • Close collaboration with Maintenance Supervisor for repairs.
  • Document maintenance activities and report issues.
  • Follow safety policies and wear PPE at all times.

  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other preventive maintenance
  • Inspect mechanical components to identify problems
  • Trouble shoot electrical controls and components and repair as needed

Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Essential Job Functions

Experience Required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred but not required
  • 2-3 years of industrial mechanic experience in a food industry environment preferred but not required
  • All relevant experience will be considered
Skills/Abilities Required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to climb ladders, lift heavy objects, work with a variety of hand and power tools and shop machines
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/packaging equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, cylinders, labeling equipment and conveyors
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to learn quickly
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime and some weekends
