Navy Region Northwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) is seeking a maintenance assistant to support Pacific Beach Lodging Program. The role involves assisting in repairs across carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trades at federal facilities.
Responsibilities include assisting with door, floor, wall repairs and routine maintenance, while adhering to safety standards and using basic shop tools. This position may require outdoor work and exposure to weather conditions.
Supports Pacific Beach Lodging Program** Assist in performing maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of crafts and trades, i.e., plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and electrical repairs.
Incumbent assists maintenance workers in performing repair and/or alterations to items such as; doors, floors, floor covering, walls, electrical switches, washers and dryers. Assists in the performance of simple plumbing repairs, replacing faucets or washers; repairing toilet flushing devices; clearing clogged drains, and tightening leaking pipe joints. Assists in the performance of light maintenance on air conditioning units and maintenance on equipment in the facility. May assists in the performance of minor electrical repairs to switches and boxes, and replace electric lights, fuses and fixtures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Conditions of employment
Incumbent must have knowledge in general carpentry and painting, and a general working knowledge of the basic shop machines and their safe operating procedures. Must have some practical knowledge of the general trades involve in maintenance work. Must be familiar with basic tools and materials required in making routine repairs to buildings and ground structures.
To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. Therefore, to the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to Executive Order 14043, that requirement does not currently apply. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
