Job summary

Hardee County is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled manual labor across county maintenance and construction tasks.

Responsibilities include grounds maintenance, sign installation, ditch clearing, and assisting skilled workers. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with experience in construction or maintenance preferred. Training available for heavy equipment operation.

Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience in construction, maintenance and repair work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

Performs light and heavy manual laboring tasks in construction and maintenance work.
Trims foliage; clears brush and lawns; seeds, hoes, cultivates and maintains grounds.
Assists craft workers in unskilled tasks; mixes concrete with sand, cement, and water.
Assists equipment operators in routine maintenance of equipment.
Clears ditches with bush cutter; digs ditches and shovels; builds retaining walls and places sandbags.
Creates and lays out road signs; installs and replaces signs; erects barricades; patches roads.
Installs rumple strips, stop bars, and thermoplastic arrows.
Operates heavy equipment on a trainee basis.
Loads/unloads heavy materials; moves large objects.
