Cobb at the Pocomoke Farm in Maryland is seeking a maintenance technician to keep on‑farm infrastructure in good working order. The role involves preventive maintenance on farm vehicles and poultry facilities, wiring tasks, and routine safety procedures.

Candidates should have a valid driver’s license and at least 1 year of driving experience, with forklift certification or the ability to obtain it. Expect a full-time schedule with on‑call requirements and strict biosecurity policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance for farm vehicles and poultry houses (50%).
  • Connect electrical wiring and install lighting, outlets, switches, and panels (20%).
  • Adjust devices, repair parts, and report defects to supervisor (20%).
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and conduct weekly generator tests (10%).

Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.Company: CobbThis position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.Location: Pocomoke Farm, Pocomoke, MDSchedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (rotating on-call weekends), including holidaysHours: 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Typically these positions generally average 40 hours a week.Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.Position SummaryThis position is responsible for maintaining and repairing on-farm infrastructure.Minimum Requirements:Education: Must be able to read, write, and have simple math [addition, subtraction, multiplication and division] skills.Must have good oral and written communication skills.Must have Valid Driver’s License, 1 year verifiable Driving experience with clean safety recordFork lift certified or able to obtain certification.Maintain maximum point level of 8Essential Duties and Responsibilities :Responsible for preventive maintenance program for all farm vehicles and poultry houses (50%)Connects electrical wiring and cables; installs lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards (20%)Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments; repairs or replaces defective parts; reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor (20%)Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: Follow lock out tag out guidelines and procedures when performing activities that require lock out tag out; performs generator test runs each week (10%)Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements :The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.Physical Demands and Work Environment :Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 50 pounds to move items such as vehicle parts, fan motors, tools, etc.; tools, such pallet jacks, may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 2000 pounds such as skids of supplies, various on-farm equipment, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex; proficiently operate trailer/tractor/skidsteer/hyster. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.Tools and Equipment: Power ToolsEnvironment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required; fall protection harness when on top of feed truck. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, My-T-Kleen Barnwash, Lysol, Formaldehyde, parts cleaners, etc.Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respitory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment.
