Job summary

The Cobb farm team at Cobb is seeking a dedicated worker to attend to hens and roosters, inspect eggs for quality, and support incubation readiness. You will weigh feed and birds, record production data, and ensure clean egg rooms. Safety and biosecurity rules apply in this biosecure environment.

Responsibilities include collecting eggs, monitoring housing conditions, and assisting with routine housekeeping to maintain high standards of poultry care and egg quality.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh proper amounts of feed for up to 10 hoppers with up to 100 pounds in each hopper.
  • Monitor water consumption and weigh birds that weigh up to 15 pounds each according to schedules.
  • Record information such as egg numbers, line and source on the egg, bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality.
  • Inspect poultry for diseases and euthanize selected or weak/ill birds per policy; remove dead poultry from flock.
  • Collect eggs from individual hens and record hen number on each egg and production card; use scanners to record data.
  • Pull down eggs to prevent breakage and handle flats of eggs averaging 10 pounds per flat; move 40-pound crates.
  • Monitor and adjust illumination, temperature, and ventilation; sanitize breakroom and vehicles.

Inspects eggs to ascertain quality and fitness for incubation by performing the below duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Weigh proper amounts of feed for up to 10 hoppers with up to 100 pounds in each hopper, monitors water consumption and weighs birds that weigh up to 15 pounds each according to schedules (10%)Cleans waterers and walls, sweeps (scrape floors if needed), maintains egg room in a clean state and performs other routine housekeeping duties (10%)Records information according to instructions such as egg numbers, (line & source on the egg), bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality (10%)Inspects poultry for diseases and euthanizes selected or weak/ ill, per approved company policy; removes dead poultry from flock upon discovery. (10%)Collects eggs from individual hens and legibly records hen number on each egg and hen production card. Use scanners to record egg collection data for each hen. Pulls down eggs to prevent breakage. Handles flats of eggs that average 10 pounds per flat and move/lift 40 pounds egg crates. (40%)Monitors and adjusts illumination, temperature, and ventilation systems per instruction; sanitatizes breakroom and vehicles. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice (20%)Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.Physical Demands and Work Environment:The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly stoop/bend down to bottom cage (approx. 2’) and reach top cage (approx. 5’) to collect eggs up to 1,000 times per shift and weigh individual birds. Must regularly lift above shoulder level and/or move, while stepping on and off ladders, up to 30 pounds to move items such as feed buckets. Must be able to hang and pull down male feed cups. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift (concrete floor); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles, safety glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required. Ear plugs will be used as required.Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, bleach, Clorox wipes hand sanitizer, etc.Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.
