Job summary

DuPont's Vespel Plant in Newark, DE is hiring a Maintenance General Mechanic to support a 24/7 production facility. The role is primarily day shift (M-F 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) with overtime opportunities.

You will work with mechanics to maintain, repair, and improve critical production equipment and utilities. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of industrial maintenance experience. Journeyman Millwright credentials are highly desirable but not required.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years’ maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Journeyman Millwright credentials are highly desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production equipment and site utilities to keep operations running.
• Perform basic pipefitting and millwright tasks.
• Safely operate power tools and related shop equipment.
• Assist in jobsite setup, maintenance, and return-to-operations activities.
• Complete mechanical installations and inspections of presses, pumps, motors, piping, and related equipment.

This is primarily a day shift position (M-F 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) with some overtime in the form of extended hours, weekend and occasional evening or weekend call-in work.**The Impact You’ll Make in this Role**As a Maintenance General Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other innovative people to maintain, repair, and improve critical production equipment. In this role, you will:* Keep production, support equipment, and site utilities operational as well as support building/facilities work. + Perform basic pipefitting and millwright tasks + Use various hand tools, torque wrench, drill press, air compressor, generator, chain hoist, rigging, grinder, band saw, forklift and other specialized equipment + Safely operate power tools + Prepare and cleanup work area + Assist in jobsite set-up, maintenance, repairs and return to operations activities* Complete mechanical installations, inspections, and other maintenance tasks for mechanical/hydraulic/electric presses, hoses, pumps, motors, cylinders, solenoids, relief devices, pressure vessels, piping, chillers and other machines or types of equipment.* Capable of pipefitting to include layout, measurement, sketching, pipe identification, schedule numbers, threaded pipe, flange pipe, and tubing.* Troubleshoot equipment issues using drawings, equipment manuals and internet resources while applying an advanced skill set in most of the following areas: pneumatics, machinery, hydraulics, and robotic automation.* Participate in all safety and regulatory training needed to fulfill the duties of the position, including high-risk activities.* Follow all plant safety rules and regulations, wear PPE as required per procedures.* Enter time confirmation against maintenance work orders along with detailed notes.* Complete and file all required check sheets described in work order and job plans.* Use RCFA methodology to resolve issues while receiving general instruction on assigned tasks.* Work with maintenance supervisor to prioritize emergency work or pull work forward as time allows.* Be included in on-call rotation to provide off-hours emergency support.* Demonstrate behaviors aligned with DuPont’s Core Values which are highest ethical behavior, protecting the planet, safety and respect for people.**Your Skills and Expertise**To set you up for success in this role from day one, DuPont requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:* Possess a High School Diploma/GED* Three (3) years’ maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment* Journeyman Millwright credentials, highly desired but not required.Join our Talent Community to stay connected with us!DuPont is an equal opportunity employer.
