Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Maintenance & Facilities Manager to lead the maintenance and upkeep of our manufacturing equipment, facility, and grounds while supporting safe, efficient, and reliable production operations. This role is responsible for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, managing facility systems, coordinating outside contractors, and ensuring equipment reliability across the manufacturing operation.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on maintenance activities as needed. This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining facility infrastructure, supporting workplace safety initiatives, and driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment, facility infrastructure, and support systems.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide daily direction to the Maintenance Technician while assisting with maintenance activities as workload demands.
  • Perform and oversee troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment including CNC machines, laser cutting equipment, press brakes, welding equipment, overhead cranes, air compressors, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and other production assets.
  • Coordinate corrective maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Monitor equipment performance and maintenance trends to identify opportunities for improved reliability, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Maintain the facility, grounds, utilities, and building systems to ensure a safe, clean, and well‑maintained work environment.
  • Coordinate and supervise outside contractors for specialized maintenance, facility improvements, inspections, and repair projects.
  • Support facility‑related environmental compliance activities and assist with regulatory inspections as required.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee and support OSHA compliance initiatives, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and safe maintenance practices.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, work orders, and preventive maintenance documentation.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to prioritize maintenance activities, support new equipment installations, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in evaluating replacement equipment, facility improvements, and capital projects by providing technical recommendations and maintenance expertise.
  • Maintain inventory levels of maintenance supplies, repair parts, and critical spare components.
  • Respond to equipment failures and facility emergencies, including after‑hours support when necessary.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Experience & Education:
  • High school diploma or GED — required
  • Technical training or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Systems, HVAC, or a related skilled trade — preferred
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment — required
  • Previous maintenance leadership or supervisory experience — preferred
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001 manufacturing environments — preferred
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience maintaining CNC machines, laser cutting equipment, press brakes, welding equipment, overhead cranes, compressors, HVAC systems, and general facility infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, and machine diagnostics.
  • Experience coordinating outside contractors and managing facility maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on maintenance while leading and supporting maintenance operations.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation and respond to facility or equipment emergencies outside normal business hours.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and reference check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and industrial controls.
  • Working knowledge of VFDs, servo systems, and machine automation.
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience with facility improvement projects and manufacturing equipment installations.
  • Welding, fabrication, or machining equipment maintenance experience.
  • Forklift, aerial lift, or overhead crane operation certifications.
Work Environment:
  • Works primarily in a heavy manufacturing and steel fabrication facility with regular exposure to production equipment, welding operations, moving machinery, noise, dust, heat, and varying temperatures.
  • Frequently performs work on and around industrial equipment, including CNC machines, laser cutting systems, press brakes, overhead cranes, compressors, and facility support systems.
  • Requires routine walking throughout the manufacturing facility, climbing ladders, working at heights, accessing confined or restricted equipment areas, and occasionally working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Regularly lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting using appropriate mechanical lifting devices.
  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel‑toed footwear, gloves, and other required safety equipment in accordance with company policies.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and perform other physical activities for extended periods while conducting maintenance and repair work.
  • Position requires availability to respond to equipment breakdowns, facility emergencies, and occasional after‑hours or weekend maintenance activities to support production continuity.
  • Work involves balancing office‑based planning, documentation, and maintenance scheduling with hands‑on troubleshooting, equipment repair, and facility maintenance responsibilities on the production floor.
  • Regular interaction with production personnel, engineering, contractors, and vendors in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment where safety, responsiveness, and equipment reliability are critical.
  • Must consistently follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and all company safety policies while promoting a culture of safe work practices.
