Job summary

Briggs & Stratton Corporation is seeking a Facilities/Operations candidate to perform a range of duties in support of maintenance and scrap handling. The role requires operating industrial power and landscape equipment, loading and sorting recyclable material, and performing routine cleaning and minor mechanical tasks.

• Ability to operate industrial power and landscape equipment.
• Knowledge of scale operations and scrap procedures.
• Mechanical ability.
• Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors equipment for baling recyclable material according to prescribed procedures and keeps scrap areas clean and orderly.
• Regulates and assists with the loading, unloading and separation of recyclable material as instructed; schedules incoming loads of recyclable material; and orders, coordinates, and scales incoming and outgoing scrap trucks.
• Cleans and maintains equipment, such as; changing coils, greasing, unjamming, etc.
• Performs landscaping duties and landscape maintenance, including plowing, shoveling, removing snow and ice from main drives, parking areas, and all walkways. Salts/sands as necessary. Mounts and dismounts plows, tailgate spreader, and other attachments to and from trucks.
• Performs light mechanical duties.
• Turns in bills of lading.
• Operates and maintains industrial power truck to move scrap, clean shop areas, insures that scrap is placed in proper containers.
• Performs floor repair duties and general rough mechanical work. Mixes, pours, and trolls cement.
• Performs general janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, emptying trash receptacles, restocking supplies, and cleaning restrooms, break areas, and offices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

• Previous operation of industrial power equipment preferred

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Moderate physical demand; often lifting/moving average weight (25 to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs), and occasionally lifting heavy weight materials (up to 70 lbs)

Somewhat disagreeable or hazardous conditions.

Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
