Job summary

Atlas Roofing Corporation in Franklin, OH seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the plant engineering team and drive performance across maintenance, CAPEX, and continuous improvement.

The role requires strong knowledge of TPM/TQM, ERP systems, and project management, with hands-on experience in AutoCAD and PLCs. You will oversee budgeting, safety, and cross-functional collaboration with operations and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• ERP software experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Procurement of manufacturing equipment with focus on safety, quality and environmental protection.
• Update manufacturing routines and work instructions.
• Maintain processes (machines, tools, procedures) in line with HSE, QCD.
• Build the engineering budget and plant CAPEX, and ensure their application.
• Manage the plant central maintenance.
• Monitor capacity utilization and keep plant layout updated.
• Plan and coordinate work of external contractors.
• Support problem solving initiatives and change management.
• Drive Continuous Improvement program progress.
• Monitor department budget and reporting metrics.
• Evaluate subordinates’ performance per policy.
• Visit customers and suppliers as necessary; liaison to stakeholders.

Atlas Roofing Shingles, Underlayments and Ventilation is seeking an Engineering Manager for Franklin, OH.

Engineering Manager Primary Responsibilities

• Procurement of manufacturing equipment under consideration of demanded security, quality and environmental protection and their preservation equipment and tooling follow-up
• Update manufacturing routines and work instructions
• Keep processes (machines, tools, procedures) at best possible level in compliance with HSE regulations and QCD
• Build the engineering budget and the plant CAPEX; and ensure their application
• Management of the plant central maintenance
• Monitor capacity utilizationKeep plant lay-out updated
• Plan, monitor and coordinate the work of external companies
• Create and introduce procedures regarding the tasks of his field of responsibility
• Support problem solving initiatives
• Support the engineering change management process
• Facilitate and monitor the progress of the Continuous Improvement Program.
• Monitors departmental budget to assure goals are maintained and implemented as defined.
• Establish and monitor the metrics for reporting on the performance of the engineering department.
• Periodically evaluate subordinates’ performance according to company policy.
• Adhere to and remain abreast of all company policies.
• Commit to team and corporate goals, mission, and vision.
• Visit customers and suppliers as necessary. Acts as a liaison to internal and external customers and suppliers.

Performs Other Duties As Required. Engineering Manager Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is desired

Engineering Manager Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Strong understanding of Total Quality Management (TQM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and its practical implementation
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is preferred (ControlLogix/ RS logic)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Basic detail and conceptual design skills
• Experience with project management and implementation from the initial planning stages to completion
• Lean- six sigma skills and experience preferred
• Advanced analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems/trouble shooting
• Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple short and long-term projects
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments with a proactive attitude
• Strong Attention to detail and accuracy
