Job summary

Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for Residence Inn Surfside. The role pays $18 per hour and requires hands-on maintenance experience in hotel environments.

You will oversee grounds, public areas, and guest rooms, performing preventative maintenance and addressing repairs to HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and carpentry. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in hotel maintenance, strong communication, and time management skills.

Qualifications

• Two years or more experience in hotel maintenance preferred.
• HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversees property grounds, public areas and guest rooms.
• Performs preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
• Paints and replaces electrical components; maintains HVAC.
• Checks fixtures, lighting and signs for proper operation.
• Responds to maintenance orders promptly.
• Completes work orders in a timely manner.
• Conducts daily rounds and reports issues.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the property grounds, public areas and hotel guest rooms
• Conducts preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns in hotel accommodations
• Paints, replaces electrical accessories, maintains HVAC
• Check fixtures, lighting, and signs for proper operation; maintain an adequate supply of spare parts and light bulbs
• Responds to maintenance orders in a timely manner
• Fulfills work orders in a timely manner
• Completed daily rounds, identifying and reporting problems
• Perform various other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of three (2) years in a hotel maintenance position preferred
• Preferred but not necessary, one (1) year of college or trade school equivalent in a mechanical, electrical, and/or technical disciplines
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general carpentry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Basic math skills
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members
• Excellent time management skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
• Must be able to visually inspect machines.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
