Job summary

UNC Charlotte Marriott is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer 2 to join our hotel operations on the UNC Charlotte campus in Charlotte, NC. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain our 226-room property and 24,000 sq ft of meeting space while supporting guest service standards.

You will work across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry trades, handle emergencies, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe, efficient operation of all hotel equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, plus two years or its equivalent in trade school or training in building maintenance/construction.
• Minimum four years experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry or building maintenance.
• Must have basic working knowledge in plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, boilers, bathroom fixtures, tiling painting -prep to finish basic carpentry groundskeeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs in specialized areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC.
• Perform all essential functions of a Maintenance Technician 1.
• Respond to and handle guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
• Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on hotel equipment including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical and guest rooms.
• Monitor and maintain engineering functions when full staff is not available (weekends and evenings).
• Respond to emergencies including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters and power failures; notify authorities.
