Location:Remote (Traveling required up to 50%-75% of the time)

Salary Range:$90,000 to $100,000 annually based on experience

Project/Position Overview:

Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer for an exciting opportunity with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). The purpose of this position is to assist in the development and implementation of HVAC preventative maintenance programs for existing BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) and BIE (Bureau of Indian Education) schools. This person will use technical engineering knowledge to recommend solutions for problems concerning nationwide programs for improving HVAC systems. Additional emphasis will be required for the assessment and proposed solutions or upgrades for ventilation systems.

This position willinitially develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for Indian Schools located around the nation. This person will be a Subject Matter Expert that is willing to travel and conduct training on HVAC best maintenance practices and assist with initial steps to develop projects whenever the need is identified for equipment upgrades. As the contract scope evolves, additional projects such as HVAC ventilation, proper ventilation exhaust, and other scopes focus on providing the proper ventilation air for the school facilities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Performs onsite inspections and evaluations of physical facilities nationwide to determine actual condition of existing buildings,their functional adequacy,compliance with code requirements, including life safety, health, handicap, energy conservation and environment.
  • Examines existing facilities, utilities and site for renovation, reuse or functional modifications.
  • Supports development of budget estimates and justifications for requests and verifythe already identified work/conditions submitted by facility managers.
  • Ensures that schedules, inspections, materials, methods, and equipment used in HVAC preventative maintenance and the planning design, and construction of ventilation projects are appropriate and timely.
  • Develops plans and conceptual design solutions for renovations and improvements to school facilities regarding improving the quantity and quality of ventilation air.
  • Supports the initiation of projects or provide technical assistance in identifying and/or verifying facility conditions, repair estimates and timetables

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • BachelorDegreein Engineering,Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Construction Management, or related degreesrequired with a license preferred
  • 7 years' related experience
  • Experience in ventilation/HVAC system engineering, maintenance, or facility management required
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of facilities planning, architecture and engineering sufficient to serve as a team professional for the development of project Program of Requirements (PORs) for use in major improvement projects involving existing sites
  • Government experience preferred
  • Ability and experience to lead a team of professional and technical workers to accomplish team goals and objectives in the planning, design, and construction of IA systems and facilities, while helping to manage subcontractors of BIE
  • Extensive experience in project management for facility improvement is required includingbest practices, internal controls, project status reporting, management decision making, and documentation in accordance with defined and accepted standards
  • Experience in using Information Management Systems to record, review, and report on project data, performance, and status reports
  • Average agility and dexterity. Duties will include moderate walking over rough, uneven or slippery surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders or similar activities, recurring lifting of moderately heavy objects less than 50 lbs. and regular visits to construction sites
  • Valid driver’s license
