Job summary

Friendwell Group of Companies is seeking a Hotel Engineer/Maintenance Technician to keep hotel facilities and equipment in top condition, ensuring a safe and comfortable guest environment. This role handles guest requests, performs repairs across multiple trades, and supports preventive maintenance programs to sustain operations.

The technician must be flexible with scheduling, capable of lifting heavy loads, and available for weekend/holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Support the Guest Room Preventive Maintenance Program.
• Follow hotel emergency procedures and respond to incidents.

Job description

The Hotel Engineer/Maintenance Technician ensures that all hotel facilities and equipment are maintained in excellent working conditions. This position responds promptly to maintenance requests and supports the overall guest experience by ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to guest calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
• Diagnose and repair non-functioning machinery and equipment.
• Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, including:
• Carpentry
• Plumbing
• Electrical work
• Painting
• HVAC maintenance
• Masonry
• Conduct routine inspections and perform preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of completed repairs and report items requiring further attention.
• Maintain and update the Guest Room Preventive Maintenance Program.
• Be knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures, including the location of all emergency shut-offs.
• Respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.

Requirements

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees must be flexible with scheduling to meet business needs.

• Available to work shifts of 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills with guests and team members
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure

• Lenses and certifications are a plus

Qualification Standards

Education

Degree a plus. Combination of vocational education, apprenticeship, in-plant training, or on-the-job training required.

Experience

Previous hotel engineering experience a plus
