Job summary

Shintech Louisiana, located in Plaquemine, LA, seeks a Maintenance Engineer to support and enhance the area maintenance team, troubleshoot equipment, and improve asset management programs.

The engineer will lead maintenance tasks, investigations, and KPI tracking, coordinating with operations and engineering to ensure safe, compliant plant operations. This exempt position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required.
• 2+ years chemical manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of chemical/refining industry maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day equipment troubleshooting.
• Oversee review and modification of preventive maintenance tasks in CMMS.
• Manage spare parts stocking via Add to Stores/Change to Stores process.
• Lead equipment failure investigations with cross-functional teams.
• Develop repair timelines for critical equipment.
• Represent maintenance in project kickoff meetings and communicate impacts.
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures to support Asset Management.
• Track KPI’s and metrics related to maintenance.
• Lead cost and reliability improvement projects.
• Monitor area asset utilization and generate reports.
• Support scheduled turnarounds and unplanned shutdowns.
• Backfill for Maintenance Supervisor/Superintendent during absences.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Engineer

Reports To

Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Engineer provides technical/engineering support to the area maintenance team in support of maintaining and troubleshooting facility equipment and processes. The position collaborates with maintenance unit engineers, operations and maintenance teams to implement, monitor and improve asset management processes and programs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist the operating units with day-to-day equipment troubleshooting in their area of responsibility.
• Oversee the review, modification, and addition of preventative maintenance task with CMMS system
• Execute the Add to Stores/Change to Stores process to ensure all critical parts are identified and stocked adequately
• Support/Lead equipment failure investigations collaborating with maintenance, operations and engineering teams
• Develops repair timelines for critical equipment undergoing routine and major maintenance work
• Represent maintenance interest at project kickoff meetings and communicate any impacts to the maintenance team
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures and processes to support site Asset Management Strategy
• Steward the maintenance work process through review of defined KPI’s and metrics
• Develop and lead cost/reliability improvement projects
• Track area bad actors utilizing maintenance, asset utilization data, generate summary reports to focus on top opportunities
• Supports scheduled turnarounds and unplanned unit shutdowns as necessary for the site.
• Backfills for the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Superintendent during vacations and absences.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Engineering degree
• 2+ years Chemical Manufacturing experience with process plant maintenance / or direct support of plant process maintenance.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Microsoft Office applications required
• Knowledge of chemical/refining industry maintenance practices and processes

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to push, pull, bend and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
• Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
• Required to be medically certified for respirator and medically fit for duty.
• Use of PPE required in specific areas.
