Job summary

NEP Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled technician to maintain and repair broadcast equipment, conference systems, and related IT gear for live events. You will diagnose faults, perform calibrations, and support mobile unit deployments in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you’ll contribute to project setups, document issues, and mentor junior technicians while upholding NEP’s standards of quality and reliability for sports, entertainment, concerts, and productions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or technical degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of industry experience as a repair/maintenance technician or engineer.
  • Knowledge of broadcast and computer technology, equipment, and facilities.
  • Self-motivated problem solver who can supervise, train and direct technical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, calibrate, and test electronic equipment at the component level as directed by the Chief Engineer.
  • Repair, configure and maintain various computer and networking equipment used in broadcasting operations.
  • Assist with equipment installations and mobile unit setup.
  • Build, repair and test intercom equipment.
  • Program and repair 2-way radio equipment.
  • Provide technical leadership to apprentices in the field.
  • Document faults and order parts for repairs.
  • Maintain a short turnaround and high accuracy in testing and repairs.
  • Organize the Field Shop for efficient operations.
  • Proactively identify and resolve equipment maintenance trends and issues.
  • Understand how individual gear fits into the larger system of a truck.

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to maintain electronics, computers, and other various broadcast equipment through reverse engineering and/or finding replacement parts as available.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Repair, calibrate, and test electronic equipment at the component level as delegated by the Chief Engineer.
  • Repair, configure and maintain various computer and networking equipment used in broadcasting operations.
  • Assist with equipment installations and faxing of mobile units.
  • Build, repair and test intercom equipment
  • Program and repair 2-way radio equipment
  • Provide technical assistance and leadership to the mobile unit engineer apprentices.
  • Document faults and problems with equipment and make proper orders for repairs.
  • Maintain a short turnaround and a high degree of accuracy in testing, calibrating, and repairs equipment.
  • Contribute to the organization of the Field Shop and facilitate an efficient working environment for Field Shop personnel.
  • Take initiative to proactively recognize and resolve equipment maintenance trends and common issues
  • Understand how an individual piece of gear fits in the larger system of a truck
Position Requirements
  • Technical or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Requires 3 years of industry-related experience as a repair/maintenance technician or engineer.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of broadcast and computer technology, equipment, and facilities
  • Must be able a self-motivated problem solver who thinks outside the box
  • Must be able to effectively supervise, train and direct technical personnel
