Job summary

WITI FOX6, a FOX-owned and operated station, is seeking a Broadcast Maintenance Engineer to keep our 24/7 broadcast operations stable. You will perform preventative maintenance, rapid troubleshooting, and precise equipment installation to ensure seamless on-air performance.

The role requires hands-on experience with Ross OverDrive, TriCaster, Chyron, Sony ENG cameras, GatesAir transmitters, Dante, NDI, and SMPTE 2110, with willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Experience in television/broadcast engineering or a related technical field.
  • RF workflow experience is a major plus.
  • IT or electronics certificate and/or AS degree.

Responsibilities

  • System Integration: design, install, test, and document new hardware/software systems.
  • Technical Support: rapid troubleshooting and repairs to minimize airtime interruptions.
  • Network Security: manage data networks per security policies.
  • Operational Training: provide guidance and training to staff on workflows and equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance: routine software/hardware updates and checks.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: provide internal customer service across departments.

JOB TITLE: Broadcast Maintenance Engineer

WITI FOX6, a FOX-owned and operated station, is looking for a Maintenance Technician who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. We need a problem-solver dedicated to ensuring our 24/7/365 broadcast remains seamless through expert preventative maintenance, rapid troubleshooting, and precision equipment installation.

Core Responsibilities:
  • System Integration: Collaborate with the engineering team to design, install, test, and document new hardware and software systems.
  • Technical Support: Provide rapid troubleshooting and repairs to minimize airtime interruptions for live and production events.
  • Network Security: Manage and maintain data networks while strictly adhering to Information Security policies.
  • Operational Training: Act as a technical resource, providing guidance and training to operational staff on daily workflows and equipment use.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine software/hardware updates and system checks to uphold high engineering standards.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Deliver exceptional internal customer service to ensure all departments have the tools they need to succeed.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Is a self-starter who can work independently but excels in a team setting.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of broadcast and network systems (RF workflow experience is a major plus).
  • Is a proactive thinker who anticipates operational needs before they become issues.
  • Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator under pressure.
Technical & Physical Demands:
  • Experience: Prior background in television/radio broadcast engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Equipment Utilized: Ross OverDrive and camera robotics, TriCaster, Chyron, Sony ENG and PTZ cameras, GatesAir transmitters, Dante audio, NDI, SMPTE 2110
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to resolve complex technical glitches during long shifts.
  • Physical Ability: Must be comfortable climbing ladders (up to 20 feet), lifting up to 40 pounds, and working in confined spaces.
  • Scheduling: Flexibility is key – this role requires the ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support a 24-hour Broadcast Station.
  • IT or Electronics certificate and/or AS Degree

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $16.98-37.58 per hour.
