Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation in Louisville is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support equipment reliability and operational excellence across the plant. You will collaborate with a diverse team to deliver sustainable solutions that advance mobility, wellbeing, and modern life.

You will serve as SME for equipment failures, develop repair plans, and implement effective solutions while guiding maintenance procedures and training to maximize uptime and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment systems, maintenance, troubleshooting methodologies, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, equipment drawings, and technical documentation.
• Effective collaboration and communication across maintenance, operations, and engineering teams.
• Commitment to safety and operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for equipment failures, repair techniques, and root cause investigations to improve asset reliability.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Technologists and Operations teams to troubleshoot issues, develop repair plans, and implement effective solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment performance, repair requirements, materials of construction, tolerances, and maintenance standards.
• Support turnaround planning and quality assurance of repairs.
• Develop, document, and continuously improve maintenance procedures, repair methods, and equipment-specific training materials.
• Support preventive maintenance and spare parts strategies to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Reliability Engineers, Planners, and Operations personnel to develop long-term maintenance and asset strategies.
• Review operational and maintenance feedback to identify improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical support for turnaround planning, contractor work, and quality assurance of internal and external repairs.
• Help train maintenance crafts and operations personnel to build technical capability and support safe, reliable plant performance.

In This Role, You Will:

Serve as the subject matter expert for equipment failures, repair techniques, and root cause investigations to improve asset reliability.

Partner with Maintenance Technologists and Operations teams to troubleshoot issues, develop repair plans, and implement effective solutions.

Provide technical guidance on equipment performance, repair requirements, materials of construction , tolerances, and maintenance standards.

Support critical equipment repairs by ensuring engineering review and technical oversight are incorporated into work requests and job plans.

Develop, document, and continuously improve maintenance procedures, repair methods, and equipment-specific training materials.

Support preventive maintenance and spare parts strategies to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with Reliability Engineers, Planners, and Operations personnel to develop long-term maintenance and asset strategies.

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering , Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.

Strong understanding of mechanical equipment systems, maintenance practices, troubleshooting methodologies, and root cause analysis.

Ability to interpret engineering specifications, equipment drawings, and technical documentation.

Effective collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across maintenance, operations, and engineering teams.

Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications that Drive You Forward

Two or more years of experience in a chemical manufacturing facility, including co-op or internship experience.

Experience supporting preventive maintenance programs, reliability initiatives, or turnaround planning activities.
