The Opportunity

We’re seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to join our Henderson workshop team. This role focuses on improving asset reliability, equipment performance and maintenance effectiveness across operations to maximise uptime and lifecycle performance. You will lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis, support maintenance planning, coordinate facility activities, and drive workplace organisation (including 5S) to maintain safe and efficient workshop and yard environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and recurring reliability issues.
  • Analyse equipment performance, utilisation and downtime trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance plan development and maintenance scheduling/backlog management.
  • Coordinate with vendors for engineering support, spares solutions and technical expertise.
  • Verify equipment readiness prior to mobilisation, ensuring certifications, inspections and documentation are complete.
  • Monitor transport schedules, loadouts and inventory of materials/consumables.
  • Maintain and support accuracy of asset registers and tracking systems (status: available, under repair, BER, deployed).
  • Coordinate routine and ad-hoc facility maintenance, utilities, security, waste management and service providers.
  • Implement and sustain 5S and other workplace organisation initiatives.
  • Support HSE initiatives, emergency procedures and facility compliance activities.
Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) or trade background with engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering, reliability improvement or workshop operations (preferably within heavy industry, oil & gas or similar).
  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting
  • Competence with maintenance planning/scheduling, asset registers and inventory/spares management.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors and facility service providers.
  • Sound understanding of HSE legislative requirements and workplace safety systems.
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on workshop environment in Henderson
