Job summary

VPI Compounding Pharmacy in Centennial, Colorado is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to keep our building, equipment, and cleanroom systems running safely and reliably. You will troubleshoot mechanical problems, repair equipment, and support facility operations to ensure uninterrupted patient care.

This full-time role welcomes strong mechanical aptitude, practical troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, strong mechanical aptitude, and good organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn specialized pharmacy equipment and cleanroom systems.
• Experience in building maintenance, equipment repair, or similar is helpful.
• Comfort using maintenance logs or computerized maintenance management systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on facility and pharmacy support equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, equipment, and facility issues to minimize downtime.
• Support maintenance of equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, pumps, autoclaves, BSCs, LAFWs, and other systems.
• Assist with developing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
• Identify recurring issues and communicate repair or replacement needs.

Maintenance Engineer

Reports To: Engineering Manager Compensation: $24-$30 per hour (DOE) Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Thursday 10:00AM-6:30PM & Friday 9:00AM-5:30PM.

VPI Compounding Pharmacy is hiring a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to help keep our building, equipment, and facility systems operating safely and reliably. If you enjoy troubleshooting mechanical problems, repairing equipment, and keeping facilities running smoothly, we encourage you to apply. This position combines general building maintenance with opportunities to learn specialized pharmacy equipment and cleanroom systems.

An engineering degree and prior pharmacy experience are not required. We are looking for strong mechanical aptitude, practical troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to learn. Experience in building maintenance, equipment repair, manufacturing, HVAC, or similar work can translate well to this position.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment & Preventative Maintenance

• Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on facility and pharmacy support equipment.
• Troubleshoot common mechanical, equipment, and facility issues and help minimize operational downtime.
• Support maintenance of equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, pumps, autoclaves, BSCs, LAFWs, and other systems as trained.
• Assist with developing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
• Identify recurring equipment or facility issues and communicate repair or replacement needs.

Facility & Utility Support

• Perform general facility repairs involving plumbing, electrical fixtures, doors, drywall, flooring, and other building systems.
• Monitor HVAC equipment and complete basic preventative maintenance such as filter changes and routine inspections.
• Support water, drainage, temperature, pressure, and other facility utility systems.
• Assist with equipment moves, installations, and facility improvement projects.

Vendor & Engineering Support

• Coordinate with the Engineering Manager and outside vendors when specialized repairs or services are required.
• Assist with cleanroom, HVAC, equipment, and facility projects as assigned.
• Help track maintenance requests, completed work, recurring issues, and vendor follow-up.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Safety & Compliance

• Complete maintenance activities safely and in accordance with company procedures.
• Follow applicable cGMP, cleanroom, safety, and facility requirements.
• Assist with routine checks of facility safety equipment and emergency systems.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and properly document completed maintenance.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot common equipment and building maintenance issues.
• Good organization, communication, and follow-through.
• Comfort using spreadsheets, maintenance logs, or computerized maintenance management systems.
• Willingness to learn specialized equipment and follow documented maintenance and safety procedures.

Helpful, but not required:

• Experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, equipment repair, or industrial maintenance.
• Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, basic electrical repairs, pumps, motors, or utility systems.
• Experience following preventive maintenance schedules.
• Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, laboratories, food production, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and perform bending, reaching, kneeling, and other physical maintenance activities.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability and willingness to gown and work within cleanroom environments when needed.
