The Harrisburg School District is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician responsible for managing the operations of the central receiving warehouse and assigned facilities. The role includes processing deliveries, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safety procedures.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, and preferably a technical engineering background. The position requires physical ability for lifting and maintaining various mechanical systems, with an emphasis on preventative maintenance.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Two years of technical engineering degree or equivalent preferred.
Experience: One year of facility maintenance experience, two years preferred. Experience in operation and maintenance of hot water and steam boilers; proper water treatment; burner operation; centrifugal pumps; knowledge of fire alarm and automatic sprinkler fire systems; knowledge of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems; and electrical, plumbing, and sewer system equipment. Knowledge of warehouse shipping and receiving operations preferred.
Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, walking and standing. Frequent bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, turning, and crouching. Occasional sitting and crawling. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs intermittently. Other Requirements: Ability to operate delivery truck and forklift. Ability to recognize equipment malfunction. Ability to give direction effectively. Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities with other operations staff. Ability to work modified assignments as necessary.
