Overview
The Maintenance Lead works with Mechanical and Electrical systems on production equipment and assists maintenance teams. This position is responsible for performing electrical and mechanical installations, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, with additional duties to assist the Department Supervisor. The position provides basic oversight and assistance for the department and employees during times when the supervisor is unavailable and/or during off-shift hours.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the department supervisor to maintain daily Maintenance PM/planned work schedules; ensure all materials are available to meet daily production needs.
- Provide guidance and feedback to assigned department employees.
- Collaborate with the supervisor to resolve issues, address rule violations, and discuss equipment concerns. Call the supervisor if problems cannot be resolved.
- Assist Maintenance personnel and Purchasing staff in identifying parts needed for repairs, order necessary parts, and maintain proper inventory of spare parts to minimize downtime.
- Monitor work production to ensure materials and finished goods meet quality standards.
- Provide technical support to Maintenance staff for resolving maintenance-related issues.
- Ensure safety of the work area, adherence to safety procedures, and proper organization during and after shifts, including forklift operation and machine safety.
- Act as liaison between Maintenance, Sales, Production, and Shipping departments.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
- Associates Degree in Electro-mechanics or similar, Apprenticeship in Electromechanical Maintenance, or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and machine shop tools.
- Ability to read and modify electrical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with VFD installation, troubleshooting, and programming PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley).
- Experience with conduit wiring, relays, controls, and motor controls.
- Advanced knowledge of AC and DC motor drives.
- Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electrical testing tools.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel.
- Ability to coordinate personnel and equipment to meet production goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
