Glacial Lakes Energy is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for our Watertown, SD facility. The role focuses on identifying root causes, repairing and installing electrical and instrumentation components, and ensuring code compliance.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, formal electronics/electrical training, 2–3 years of industry experience, and a valid Electrical License with license progression within 1 year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Formal training and/or certification in electronics/electrical systems is required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant electrical experience in an ethanol/industrial environment preferred.
• Must hold a current Electrical License and obtain Journeyman’s or Master’s/Contractor’s License within 1 year of hire.
• Experience with 4-20mA control wiring and instrumentation is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify root causes of issues and repair, replace, rewire, and install electrical and instrumentation components.
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs across 480V, 220V, 110V, 24V DC systems and 4-20mA loops.
• Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes; maintain documentation and inventory.
• Communicate needs and issues with the Maintenance Manager; participate in safety programs and continuous improvement.
• Respond to after-hours plant issues as needed and support training.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance Electricians are responsible for identifying root causes of issues and repairing, replacing, rewiring, and installing electrical and instrumentation components. This position ensures compliance with local and national electrical codes and helps maintain electrical inventory. Strong communication with the Maintenance Manager is essential, especially in regard to needs, issues, and after-hours support. You’ll also assist with training, safety programs, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Troubleshoot root causes and perform repairs, replacements, and rewiring of instrumentation/electrical components
• Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes (480V, 220V, 110V, 24V DC, 4-20mA loops/circuits)
• Maintain documentation of changes and work performed
• Maintain and manage inventory of electrical/electronic parts
• Communicate with the Maintenance Manager regarding needs and concerns
• Respond to emergency plant issues after hours, on weekends, and holidays as needed
• Develop, train, and review electrical safety programs (e.g., Arc Flash, electrical integrity)
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime
• Ensure safe, clean, and organized electrical work areas and enclosures

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Formal training and/or certification in electronics/electrical systems (required)
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant electrical experience (ethanol/industrial environment preferred)
• Must hold a current Electrical License
• Must obtain Journeyman’s or Master’s/Contractor’s License within 1 year of hire
• Experience with:
• 4-20mA analog and discrete control wiring
• Calibration/configuration of flow, level, temperature, pressure, pH instruments
• Power systems up to 4160V 3-phase
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
• Strong communication skills in English
