Job summary

Glacial Lakes Energy in Aberdeen, SD is hiring a Maintenance Electrician to support our ethanol facility's electrical and instrumentation systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, rewire, and install components while ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety practices.

Responsibilities include maintaining 4-20mA control wiring, calibrating instruments, and coordinating with the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Formal training and/or certification in electronics/electrical systems is required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant electrical experience (ethanol/industrial environment preferred).
• Must hold a current Electrical License and obtain Journeyman’s or Master’s license within 1 year of hire.

• Troubleshoot root causes and perform repairs, replacements, and rewiring of instrumentation/electrical components.
• Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes (480V, 220V, 110V, 24V DC, 4-20mA loops/circuits).
• Maintain documentation of changes and work performed.
• Maintain and manage inventory of electrical/electronic parts.
• Communicate with the Maintenance Manager regarding needs and concerns.
• Respond to emergency plant issues after hours, on weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Develop, train, and review electrical safety programs (e.g., Arc Flash, electrical integrity).
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime.
• Ensure safe, clean, and organized electrical work areas and enclosures.
• Support GLE’s mission, vision, and values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay: DOE (Dependent on Experience)

Maintenance Electricians are responsible for identifying root causes of issues and repairing, replacing, rewiring, and installing electrical and instrumentation components. This position ensures compliance with local and national electrical codes and helps maintain electrical inventory. Strong communication with the Maintenance Manager is essential, especially in regard to needs, issues, and after-hours support. You’ll also assist with training, safety programs, and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience with:

• 4-20mA analog and discrete control wiring
• Calibration/configuration of flow, level, temperature, pressure, pH instruments
• Power systems up to 4160V 3-phase
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
• Strong communication skills in English
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
