Maintenance Electrician, Moncure, NC
We are currently seeking talent for a Maintenance Electrical Technician job in our Moncure, NC facility. This position is responsible for providing maintenance support to the production area and will be required to safely troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace faulty instrumentation and electrical equipment.
What You’ll Do:
- Install, program and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (480V, 3 phase).
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment such as motor starters, MCC’s, disconnects, etc.
- Conduit bending, installation, and repair.
- Cable tray wiring installation and repair; replace switches, relays, transmitters, sensing devices, motors, valves, and other faulty equipment.
- Some mechanical tasks (pumps, piping, etc.).
- Aerial lift/forklift operation.
- Grounding of equipment/structures.
- Support the plant instrumentation and automation technicians with DCS, PLC, and all plant instrumentation and controls.
- Complete work assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or designee.
- Participate in MOCs, HAZOPS, and functional description reviews as requested.
- Once familiar with the facility, you will be part of the call-out rotation.
To be successful, you will need:
- 3+ years of related experience in an industrial facility environment or an equivalent mix of education and experience necessary to obtain journeyman level knowledge.
- North Carolina electrician license (any level) or ability to become licensed.
- Successful completion of Arc Flash will be required once in the position if not already attained.
- Ability to read and understand piping and instrument drawings, loop drawings, specification sheets, electrical schematics, and logic diagrams.
- Ability to navigate NEC code book (i.e., conduit and wire sizing, hazardous locations, etc.).
- Ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Capability to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to work in full personal protection equipment (PPE), air, respirator, suit, etc.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed, and available for call-out overtime.
- To be proactive, have a strong sense of time management, and show pride in workmanship.
- To possess strong troubleshooting skills, ownership and initiative in solving Electrical & Instrumentation issues, and an ability to work independently when necessary.
- Understanding of DC and AC drive systems.
- Sound knowledge of electrical systems, switching, and Arc Flash.
- Technical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of plant staff and corporate engineering functions.
- Ability to handle field work, such as wiring, component installation, instrumentation calibrations.
- Working in confined spaces to install/repair equipment.
Qualifications Experience:
Required: 3 years in a fast-paced, dynamic industrial environment.
