Job summary

Ameriti Manufacturing LLC in Detroit seeks a journey-level maintenance electrician to design, install, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment. You will lead other maintenance staff and perform related mechanical tasks as needed.

Requirements include a preferred journeyman card, 8+ years of industrial maintenance experience, ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift, climb ladders, lift up to 100 pounds, and wear PPE; work may occur in high-temperature or confined spaces.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Description

Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the design, installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems; act as lead worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform related work as required. Will be asked to perform mechanical tasks in addition to electrical work.

• Incumbents inspect, isolate, troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments.
• Incumbents assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Estimate cost, time and materials for electrical projects; participate in the maintenance and operations of an electrical shop; clean, maintain and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.

2. 2. Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
3. 3. Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.
4. 4. May diagnose as well as replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and also pneumatic components of machines equipment.
5. 5. Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
6. 6. Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
7. 7. Assists and serves as back up to other Maintenance employees.

Requirements

Journeyman Card preferred. Will consider candidates without a journeyman card, but must have training, education, and experience in order to apply for a journeyman card with the UAW.

Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years industrial maintenance experience

Must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift

Ability to climb a ladder and step ladder.

Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.

Noise level which may, at times, require normal hearing protection in the form of ear plugs.

Must be able to stand for long periods.

Must be able to work in a tight, close environment when needed.
