Job summary

International Paper in Des Plaines, IL, seeks a Mechanic/Electrician for the 3rd shift. The role is hourly full-time, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday–Friday, at the Des Plaines Container plant.

Pay rate is $46.54/hr plus a $0.26 shift differential, with standard plant maintenance responsibilities. The candidate will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot machine issues, and handle electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures across the line.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in industrial manufacturing.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLC and I/O changes.
• Experience with HMI software such as FactoryTalk.
• Read and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Operate a multimeter to diagnose electrical issues.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk during shifts.

The Job You Will Perform:

Industrial maintenance/mechanic electrician will perform routine preventive maintenance and repair of machines.

Troubleshoot emergency maintenance on machines as necessary to support plant operations.

Troubleshoot industrial, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical failures

Reads, manages and performs work orders of required maintenance services.

The Skills You Will Bring:

3+ years in industrial manufacturing

PLC troubleshooting, inputs/outputs, and changeouts of programs

Experience with Factory Talk or similar HMI software

Photo eyes, sensors, limit switches, and solenoids

Repairing and troubleshooting conveyor systems (line controls)

Mechanical Systems (bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes)

Hydraulics & Pneumatics

High and Low Voltage

Ability to operate a multimeter to diagnose a variety of electrical issues

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
