Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. seeks a maintenance electrician to repair electrical components of industrial machinery and building facilities. The role uses schematics and blueprints to diagnose issues and perform repairs with hand and power tools, including electronic testers.

Expect work on motors, relays, switches, and bearings, with occasional mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic diagnostics. This on-site position supports the Mississippi facilities.

Qualifications

• Reading electrical diagrams, schematics, blueprints and drawings.
• Diagnose malfunctioning equipment using hand tools and electronic testers.
• Repair electrical components following electrical code and specifications.
• Replace damaged wires, cables and faulty electrical components (relays, switches, motors, sensing devices).
• Replace motor bearings and rewire motors; diagnose mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic parts when needed.
• Repair cranes, air compressors, welding machines, and crawler cranes.

Responsibilities

• Repair electrical components per code, manuals and diagrams.
• Use hand and power tools to diagnose and fix equipment.
• Replace damaged wires and faulty electrical parts.
• Fix motors, relays, switches and sensing devices.
• Inspect and replace bearings and rewire motors as necessary.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic parts when needed.
• Maintain repair of overhead cranes and related machinery.

GENERAL FUNCTION: The maintenance electrician is responsible for repairs to electronic components of industrial machinery/equipment and building facilities.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:

Repairing electrical components following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications.

Use hand tools, power tools and electronic testers to diagnose malfunctioning equipment.

Replace damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.

Replace faulty electrical components of machines, such as relays, switches, motors and sensing devices.

Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors.

May also diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

Repair overhead cranes, air compressors, welding machines, and crawler cranes as well as other equipment items.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of blueprints and drawings.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Prior mechanical/electrical experience is required.
