Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation in Gastonia, NC is seeking an experienced electrical maintenance technician to safely maintain and repair industrial power and control systems on-site.

You will service 480V systems, troubleshoot VFDs, MCCs, transformers, and wiring; work with Emerson DeltaV, ABB System Six, and Allen Bradley PLCs; follow NEC/IBC codes and safety guidelines; collaborate with teams and contribute to reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret NEC/IBC codes and engineering standards.
• Read wiring diagrams and motor drawings.
• Perform safe maintenance on 480V electrical systems.
• Communicate effectively and work in a team.
• Proficient with Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Safely maintain and repair electrical equipment and distribution gear.
• Troubleshoot and repair 480V backup power systems, MCCs, and VFDs.
• Repair transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, and disconnects.
• Design and troubleshoot control circuits and wiring diagrams.
• Install conduit and wire pulling; adhere to hazardous-area classifications.
• Work with DCS DeltaV, ABB System Six, and Allen Bradley PLCs.
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation and control wiring.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Safely maintain and repair service entrance & distribution equipment.
• Safely maintain and repair 480V backup generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
• Safely maintain and repair motor control centers (MCCs) and AC induction motors.
• Troubleshoot and repair motor starters and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Safely Maintain and repair circuit breakers, fuses, and other disconnects.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair for electrical transformers (Wye-Wye, Delta-Wye).
• Maintain and repair power panels & wiring for three phase 480V, 208V and single phase 220V, 120V.
• Design and troubleshoot control circuits, disconnects, switches, etc.
• Install conduit (rigid, flex, EMT, PVC) and wire pulling. understanding of electrical classifications for hazardous areas/industrial facilities.
• Work with our distributed control systems (DCS) like Emerson DeltaV and ABB System Six, and programmable logic controllers (PLC) such as Allen Bradley.
• Calibrate and maintain analog and discrete instrumentation, and knowledgeable in control wiring, terminal blocks, and low voltage fusing.

Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• Ability to safely work independently and in a team setting by following all required procedures
• Ability to read, understand and interpret electrical codes (National Electric Code / NEC), building codes (International Building Code / IBC) and engineering standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Strong organizational skills and self-motivation
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback and coaching
• Strong mechanical skills and the ability to use a variety of hand and power tools
• Ability to follow departmental practices, procedures and safety guidelines
• Ability to read, understand and interpret wiring diagrams, motor elementary drawings, and loop sheets.

Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward

• Associate’s degree, or formal certification in electrical, control or related disciplines
• NC Electrical Contractor’s License (Limited, Intermediate, Unlimited, or Special Restricted Licenses)
• 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience
• Proficiency with SAP maintenance and business software
• Experience with infrared (IR) thermography for electrical equipment
• Experience with airborne ultrasonic inspection of electrical equipment
• Proficiency with laser alignment of rotating equipment
