Job summary

Block by Block is seeking personnel for union cleaning roles in the United States. The position involves patrolling assigned districts, operating power washers, and performing sidewalk cleaning tasks to improve the appearance of the service area.

Prior experience with large vehicles and standard cleaning tools is preferred. The role runs Monday to Friday with early morning hours and offers union benefits, including medical/dental/vision coverage and a 401K plan.

Responsibilities

• Manual and/or mechanical cleaning across assigned zones, including power washing sidewalks and related tasks.
• Observe and report on safety and security while on patrol.
• Provide friendly customer service and directions to pedestrians as needed.
• Prepare basic daily reports of tasks completed and incidents observed.
• Maintain professionalism in accordance with Block by Block standards.

Job Summary:Provides a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall appearance of the service district they are assigned to.

Pay Rate: $21.00/hourly

Required Experiences/Skillset:

Shift Specifics:

• Mon. - Fri. from 5:00am to 1:45pm

Essential Functions:

Manual and/or Mechanical Cleaning: circulate through assigned work zone on foot or utilizing one of several machines to provide a variety of appearance-enhancing services, including operating a variety of equipment to vacuum, remove gum, and otherwise clean sidewalks; power washing of district sidewalks; possible flower watering and other landscape enhancing activities depending on the account

Observe And Report:While on patrol, be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other similar identifiers.

Hospitality And Customer Service:While on patrol, will go out of the way to actively acknowledge pedestrians with a friendly greeting or identify visitors in order to provide directions, information, city information, or recommendations.

Reporting:Must be able to provide written reports of broken infrastructure, graffiti on private property, and provide a basic daily report of accomplishments and tasks completed.

Professionalism:Must maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism.

Requirements

Physical Abilities:

• Must have the physical capacity to walk continuously during an eight-hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen-minute breaks and one thirty-minute meal break).
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.

Communication:Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports
