Job summary

Life Care Centers of America is seeking a Maintenance Director to oversee the Maintenance department ensuring compliance with all laws and Life Care standards. The role requires overseeing preventive maintenance, repairs, safety, and patient wellbeing in a post-acute care environment.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, budgeting, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to maintain high-quality facility operations and service delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two years in maintenance experience.
• Proven knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of local building codes and ordinances.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and direct maintenance programs.
• Schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
• Inspect equipment and systems regularly for proper functioning and safety.
• Run errands and manage incoming/outgoing freight.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff.
• Assist in maintenance duties as needed.
• Manage within budget and ensure cost efficiency.
• Provide excellent customer service and positive attitude towards patients.
• Assist in patient evacuation when required.
• Maintain regular attendance and reliability.
• Communicate and collaborate on an interdisciplinary team.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Maintenance department in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two (2) years’ maintenance experience
• Proven knowledge of various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Knowledgeable of local building codes and ordinances

Specific Job Requirements

• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
• Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
• Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
• Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
• Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

Essential Functions

• Recruit, select, hire, evaluate, train, counsel, and supervise maintenance staff
• Perform duties as a Maintenance Assistant as needed
• Effectively manage and operate within budget
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
• Assist in the evacuation of patients
• Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
• Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
• Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
• Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
• Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
