Job summary

Avalon Health Care is hiring a Maintenance Director in South Carolina. The role oversees maintenance, safety, and day-to-day facility operations at the E. Roy Stone, Jr.

Veterans Pavilion, with a wage range of $34.00–$36.00 per hour and a full-time schedule. The position involves supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with Life Safety codes and hospital regulations. A strong background in skilled nursing maintenance and relevant trade skills is expected;

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in Skilled Nursing facility strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and carpentry repairs or equivalent technical knowledge or licensing.
• Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English.
• Strong working knowledge of Life Safety code regulations applicable to the health care industry.
• Must be familiar with State and local building code regulations.
• Must be able to relate positively to residents and families and work cooperatively with other associates.
• Basic understanding of computer technology.
• Must meet all local health regulations, and pass post-employment physical exam if required including drug screening and background check.
• Must be responsive to after hour and weekend calls (24/7).

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and supervise the day-to-day repair, improvement and preventative maintenance of the building, equipment, lawn and grounds; arrange for and manage outside repair, maintenance and construction services; may perform and supervise floor care.
• Supervise maintenance staff in day-to-day facility operations; assign jobs, set priorities, orient new staff and participate in recruitment.
• Monitor work assignments, provide feedback, evaluate performance and discipline as needed.
• Maintain records, manage budgets and supplies, fulfill department head responsibilities.
• Ensure equipment and work areas are clean, safe and orderly; adhere to cleaners and hazardous materials procedures; enforce infection control and safety practices.
• Comply with safety procedures including Lock Out/Tag Out for electrical repairs.
• Attend and participate in educational activities and staff meetings; assist in orientation and training of staff.
• Participate in Quality Improvement activities.

Effective July 1, the E. Roy Stone Veterans Pavilion on the CM Tucker campus, will transfer to the SC Department of Veteran Affairs from the SC Department of Mental Health. Avalon Health Care, a privately operated company experienced in the long-term care needs of Veterans, will operate the Veterans Home for the SC Department of Veterans Affairs.

Wage : $34.00 - $36.00/hr

Responsibilities:

• Ensure equipment and work areas are clean, safe and orderly; and strict adherence to procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials or objects; ensure Universal Precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed; and promptly address any hazardous conditions and equipment.
• Comply with Company policies involving all safety and infection control procedures to include the proper use of mechanical lifts, gait belts and personal protective back supports.
• Comply with standard Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for electrical repairs.
• Attend and participate in educational activities, in-service training, and staff meetings; assist in orientation and training other staff.
• Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
