Job summary

La Bella of Caseyville is seeking a Maintenance Director to lead the maintenance department of our skilled nursing facility in Illinois. You will oversee safety, preventive maintenance, and facilities operations to support resident comfort and safety.

You will manage staff, coordinate inspections, and ensure compliance with codes and contracts. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, coordinating external services, and safeguarding building systems and grounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years maintenance experience in long-term care.
• Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators and life-safety systems.
• Familiar with building codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to respond to maintenance emergencies after hours.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the facility is well-maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
• Manage the operations of the Maintenance Department by staffing and scheduling personnel.
• Inspect storage rooms, work rooms, utility/janitorial closets for upkeep and supply control.
• Participate in facility surveys by authorized governmental services.
• Ensure outside services are completed and supervised per contracts/work orders.
• Assist in establishing a preventative maintenance program.
• Make daily rounds to ensure maintenance duties are performed.
• Maintain fire alarm and other fire protection systems.
• Complete carpentry and other building repairs within scope of expertise.
• Monitor, maintain, and record inventory and orders supplies as needed.
• Head snow and ice removal for the sidewalks.

As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the internal and external aspects of our Healthcare facility and grounds.

About the Role

As the Maintenance Director, you will oversee and supervise all aspects of the maintenance department, ensuring that the facility and grounds meet all related safety codes and that equipment and systems maintenance schedules are monitored and followed. Your work will directly impact the daily lives of our residents, ensuring their comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the facility is well-maintained in a safe and comfortable manner
• Manage the operations of the Maintenance Department by adhering to proper staffing and scheduling of personnel
• Inspect storage rooms, work rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc. for upkeep and supply control

• Ensure that outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders
• Assist in establishing a preventative maintenance program

Requirements

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent
• 2 or more years’ experience working maintenance in long-term care
• Working knowledge of multiple systems relevant to nursing home maintenance (ie., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and life safety systems
• Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations
• Must be able to handle calls outside of normal work hours for maintenance emergencies
