The City of Rowlett is seeking a Supervisor to oversee a crew responsible for the maintenance and repair of parks and public grounds. This role includes planning projects, ensuring quality work, and training staff. Ideal candidates will have supervisory experience, a high school diploma, and strong leadership skills. Hiring Rate: $24.89 hourly
Full Pay Range: $24.89 - $37.34 hourly
Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:30am - 4:00pm

Under general direction, supervises, leads, and directs a small crew in the maintenance, repair, and construction of parks, park amenities, public grounds, irrigation systems, plant material, and athletic fields. Responsibilities include planning, organizing projects, and performing related work as required. The role requires regular, on-time attendance.
Responsibilities also include coordinating activities of the crew, maintaining construction activities, ensuring necessary materials, tools, and equipment are in good and safe condition, and scheduling their use. The supervisor enforces department rules and policies, makes minor repairs to equipment, and ensures quality and timely completion of work. Uses hand tools such as saws, bolt cutters, picks, shovels, mops, brooms, pump sprayers, ladders, and other assorted hand tools, as well as power tools, air compressors, utility vehicles, mowers, weed-eaters, edgers, paint rigs, top dressers, aerators, tractors, and attachments.
The supervisor trains subordinates, ensures equipment and materials are available, inspects equipment, and performs preventative maintenance. Maintains records and reports, manages inventory, and initiates purchase requisitions. Supervises routine and preventive maintenance of park amenities and structures. Operates machinery and equipment as needed and maintains related records.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, three years of related experience (supervisory experience preferred). Must demonstrate leadership, responsibility assignment, coordination, monitoring, and effective communication skills. Ability to perform site and equipment inspections, provide excellent customer service, and represent the city professionally. Basic knowledge and skills related to the area of responsibility are required. Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License is required; CDL preferred. Must maintain a good driving record and report traffic citations.
Must obtain within 12 months at least one of the following licenses/certifications: Class "A" Texas CDL, Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License, Certified Arborist, TCEQ Licensed Irrigator, TCEQ Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester License, or Certified Playground Safety Inspector License. Other licenses/certifications may be pre-approved by the Department Director.
