Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a dedicated maintenance professional to coordinate repairs and improvements for Community Hospital facilities. The role covers installation, inspection, and minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, boiler, fire detection, and related systems.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a state trade license, and at least 2 years of trade experience in a commercial setting. This is a full-time, on-site position with standard 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience in selected trade in a commercial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate projects for Community Hospital facility repairs and improvements.
  • Install or repair pumps, engines, motors, conveyors, and laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and instrument readings on equipment and facility systems.
  • Maintain safety and documentation, logs, records, and inventories for work orders and parts.
  • Provide technical instruction to other employees as needed.

Summary: Coordinates materials, supplies and, as needed, additional personnel, and performs skilled installation, inspection, testing, preventive maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, boiler, fire detection, mechanical and HVAC systems at Community Hospital. Performs basic carpentry, painting and general maintenance activities on the building and on equipment.

Responsibilities
  1. Gathers necessary information and coordinates projects relating to Community Hospital facility/equipment repairs and improvements.
  2. Performs installation, maintenance and repairs on Community Hospital facility, equipment and systems, as needed, and as determined competent to include, but not limited to: Installs or makes repairs on pumps, engines, motors, conveyor systems and laboratory equipment, Performs general maintenance such as painting, adding chemicals to boiler, changing gas tanks, refueling vehicles, patching holes, fixing leaky fixtures, unclogging commodes, and changing filters, belts, locks, ballast, light bulbs and ceiling tiles, Installs, inspects and tests fire extinguishers and fire alarm systems, Performs basic carpentry such as putting up sheet rock and shelving, Assists licensed maintenance mechanics with, and/or performs, repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boiler, pneumatic, irrigation, sprinkler and sterilizing systems.
  3. Performs preventive maintenance, inspections and instrument readings on equipment, machines, systems and facility, as assigned, and as determined competent.
  4. Provides for the safety of self and others.
  5. Promotes positive relations.
  6. Uses and maintains equipment, tools, materials and supplies.
  7. Documents work actions and provides support for administrative functions to include, but not limited to: Maintains logs, records and reports pertaining to work orders and actions, Participates in monitoring inventories of parts, supplies and chemicals, Estimates material requirements necessary for supplies and equipment, Obtains prices and orders parts.
  8. As needed, provides technical instruction to other or new employees.
  9. Performs other duties, as needed to include, but not limited to: Moves furniture, file cabinets, etc., Cleans equipment room or other areas, Picks up trash, Cleans roof tops and roof drains.

Education Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Licensed in respective trade by State Department of Labor.

Professional Experience Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience in selected trade in a commercial setting.
