Abercrombie & Fitch Co. is seeking a Conveyor Technician to support the maintenance team at our distribution center. You will troubleshoot, clear jams, perform diagnostics, and complete preventative maintenance on powered conveyors, referencing mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
This role requires familiarity with 120V/24VDC circuits, 120/480V motors, VFDs, lockout/tagout, PPE, and working at heights. Welding or machining is a plus; teamwork and safety culture are emphasized.
The Conveyor Technician plays a critical role in supporting the maintenance team by ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all powered conveyor systems throughout the distribution center. In this collaborative role, the technician contributes through hands‑on troubleshooting, clearing jams, performing diagnostic checks, and completing preventative maintenance that helps the entire team stay ahead of equipment issues. The technician works from mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, documents repairs and parts usage in the A&F maintenance database, and assists teammates in identifying root causes of recurring problems. This position requires comfort working with 120v/24VDC circuits, 120/480v motors, VFDs, and related components, as well as navigating heights, climbing stairs, and working over and under conveyor lines. Familiarity with lockout/tagout, PPE standards, and conveyor systems such as Rapistan/Dematic or SDI is valuable, and welding or machining experience is a plus. Above all, this technician contributes to a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the maintenance department.
Fri-Sun, 6AM-6PM. Willing to work overtime when needed. Willing to come in early or stay late to complete repairs. Must be able to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude. On occasion, must be willing to work in other areas as needed (e.g. building maintenance, lift equipment, grounds).
Extensive knowledge of powered conveyor and associated equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and perform diagnostic checks on conveyor systems. Able to read electrical prints a plus. Ability to follow mechanical drawings and parts breakdowns. Document repairs, parts used, and time completing tasks in A&F maintenance database. Clear jams and determine the root cause of high jam areas. Basic knowledge of PCs. Must be familiar with 120v and 24VDC circuits as well as 120/480v motors. Must be able to wire 480v motors and accessories such as brakes, soft starts, and VFDs. Welding and machining experience a plus. Familiar with lockout/tagout procedures. Must be comfortable with heights of 30’ +. Must have an understanding of PPE and applications. Applicant must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs, over and under conveyor as needed.
Ability to perform PM’s in a timely manner. Must be able to recognize potential breakdowns found during PM’s and decide if it needs repair now (e.g. shaft is worn) or can hold until next PM (e.g. pulley lagging is showing wear). Being familiar with Rapistan/Dematic conveyors is a plus. Being familiar with SDI conveyors is a plus.
