Responsibilities
- Provide controls expertise on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), loop control equipment, variable frequency drives, chart recorders and operator interface devices used in sterilizers, lyophilizers, filling machines, air handlers, chillers, vial cappers, and more. Troubleshoot and repair, perform preventive maintenance, and implement programming changes when required.
- Communicate controller programming information clearly to support troubleshooting and investigations. Train and provide detailed guidance to other maintenance technicians with minimal supervision from maintenance management and engineering staff.
- Lead low voltage (<480V) electrical troubleshooting and repairs while supporting facility renovations, equipment installations, and maintenance work orders.
- Read and understand construction and machine blueprints, P&ID diagrams, electrical drawings, and schematics for pneumatic, gas supply, vacuum, and high-pressure piping systems.
- Understand DC/AC circuits, motor control, and measurement techniques to aid in troubleshooting.
- Maintain computer skills including Microsoft Office, software installations and upgrades, basic computer repair, and a basic understanding of computer networking. SAP experience is desired.
- Ensure proper use of engineering and maintenance documentation under cGMPs, including the Maintenance Work Order System, Critical Backups, Change Control, SOPs, and Validation documentation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- AAS Degree or Technical Certification preferred
- PLC training or degree preferred
- 4+ years related experience required
- Microsoft Word experience required
- Mechanical aptitude with PLC duties and mechanical maintenance support
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to read and understand construction and machine blueprints
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent certification with 5–10 years of relevant experience in process controls or similar roles; ability to write complex reports
- Lead experience; pharmaceutical/regulated industry experience preferred
- Advanced vocational/specialized knowledge preferred
- PLC programming certifications preferred
- Microsoft Excel experience preferred
- Ability to exchange information at a basic level
- Adherence to detailed instructions and established routines
- Role involves multiple projects, work orders, and PMs requiring planning and prioritization
- Produces analysis, diagnosis, and production tasks that impact end results
- In maintenance support, influences corrective decisions to meet goals
Physical and Vision Requirements
- Vision: 20/30 near-point corrected vision
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds unassisted
- Exposure to allergens
- Pushing, pulling, twisting
- Travel up to 10%+
- Aseptic gown certification for aseptic manufacturing environments
Location and Schedule
Location: Spokane, WA — On Site, Full-Time
Shift: Fri-Sun and every other Thu, 6am – 6pm
Compensation and Benefits
Hiring Wage: $39.57 - $53.54/hr + 12% shift differential, depending on experience, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises. Midpoint and above reserved for longevity and outstanding performance.
