Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Texas seeks a Maintenance Class A to install and maintain production machines and equipment across our plant. You will perform emergency repairs, scheduled maintenance, and preventative tasks to keep systems running smoothly.

Ideal candidates will diagnose problems, repair components, troubleshoot PLCs and drives, and plan maintenance work while following safety protocols and company housekeeping standards. This is a full-time on-site role requiring willingness to work shifts.

Qualifications

• Install and maintain production machines and equipment.
• Provide emergency repairs during production and scheduled maintenance.
• Diagnose problems and replace/repair parts.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and drives and their control systems.
• Plan and schedule maintenance work.
• Follow LOTO procedures for machines/equipment.
• Maintain safety and good housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties to install and maintain production machines and equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during service.
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Demonstrate ability to parallel all rolls, make all required settings and adjustments for optimum equipment performance to manufacture quality products.
• Teach other maintenance classifications in all qualification requirements and proper maintenance procedures.
• Troubleshoot programmable controllers and troubleshoot and repair all A/C and D/C drives and their control systems use.
• Use all aspects of the maintenance work order program.
• Plan and schedule maintenance work, assign work to other maintenance classifications according to their abilities and limitations.
• Troubleshoot and repair motor circuits, which includes simple electrical control circuits. Test electric motors for opens and shorts.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
• Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions as necessary.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Follow up all work in order to insure repairs and work are performed properly.
• Complete all paperwork neatly, correctly, and in accordance with Company guidelines.
• Willingly work all necessary hours and shifts.
• Help maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
• Regular and timely attendance required.
• Follow LOTO procedures for machines/equipment.
