Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to install, maintain, and repair production equipment in a fast-paced corrugated manufacturing environment.

The role requires 5–6 years of maintenance experience, exposure to corrugators, and proficiency with CMMS, PLCs, ladder logic, and electrical testing. Candidates must be able to follow LOTO procedures and work independently when needed.

Qualifications

  • Five to six years of industrial maintenance mechanic experience.
  • One to three years of corrugator experience.
  • Industrial electrical certification/license preferred.
  • Must have good working knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and work order systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain production machines and equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and scheduled maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motor circuits and electrical control systems.
  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, test and adjust equipment.
  • Maintain work orders/parts in CMMS system.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work and assign tasks.
  • Follow LOTO procedures for equipment and ensure safety."Work hours may include evenings or weekends."

Job description

  • Perform duties to install and maintain production machines and equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during service
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Demonstrate ability to parallel all rolls, make all required settings and adjustments for optimum equipment performance to manufacture quality products
  • Teach other maintenance classifications in all qualification requirements and proper maintenance procedures
  • Troubleshooting of A/C and D/C drives and their control systems use
  • Maintain work orders/parts in SAP system or Computer Maintenance Management system
  • Call in from off shift to maintain/repair facility equipment.
  • Use all aspects of the maintenance work order program
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work, assign work to other maintenance classifications according to their abilities and limitations
  • Troubleshoot and repair motor circuits, which includes simple electrical control circuits. Test electric motors for opens and shorts
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions as necessary
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping
  • Follow up all work in order to insure repairs and work are performed properly
  • Complete all paperwork neatly, correctly, and in accordance with Company guidelines
  • Willingly work all necessary hours and shifts
  • Regular and timely attendance required
  • Follow LOTO procedures for machines/equipment
  • Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. Smurfit Westrock employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
  • Five to six years of industrial maintenance mechanic experience, including but not limited to: diagnosing and troubleshooting; preventative maintenance; lockout/tagout procedures.
  • One to Three years of Corrugator experience
  • Experience with Computer Maintenance Management system
  • Intermediate level knowledge troubleshooting all A/C and D/C drives and their control systems use.
  • Intermediate level Knowledge and experience in ladder logix and PLC’s
  • Industrial electrical certification/license preferred.
  • Successfully demonstrate all Tech 3 qualifications
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have good working knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques, work order systems, equipment lubrication standards and industrial safety standards.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Provide own tools to perform maintenance tasks.
