Western Bagel, with a legacy of over seventy years, is expanding its team at our Van Nuys location. We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic Team Member to join us in maintaining the quality and efficiency of our operations.

Job Details:

Salary: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 2nd shift
• 3rd shift
• Holidays and weekends as needed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair faulty equipment efficiently under pressure
• Perform preventive maintenance and document findings
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop areas
• Make modifications and conduct test runs on machinery
• Collaborate with the product manager on machinery adjustments
• Assist with tile and masonry repairs
• Adhere to food handling safety standards
• Read schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and blueprints
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• At least 3+ years of maintenance experience in a bakery or food manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks
• Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with hand and power tools
• Professional and tactful interpersonal skills
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills for updating maintenance systems
• Flexible schedule availability
• Vocational training or related coursework preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The role requires physical activity including sitting, grasping, reaching, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Visual acuity for close and color vision is necessary. The environment involves moderate noise levels and exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and temperature variations, including cold temperatures below 0°F.
