Job description

This position supports all UNC locations.

Hours: Full-time hours Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm with availability to participate in weekly team On-Call rotation.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, the Maintenance Associate is responsible for handling preventative maintenance, emergency repairs and maintenance projects throughout UNC & UNCDC. The Maintenance Associate must have strong interpersonal skills, including successful verbal and written communications with staff, clients, and vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessing system breakdowns and determining the kind of repairs that are required.
  • Handle basic repairs and install/upkeep of household fixtures.
  • General housekeeping as assigned.
  • Maintain safety for building grounds-Snow removal, trees trimming and debris removal (including garbage), hazardous materials, properly dispose of any chemicals used.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities/properties.
  • Conduct walkthroughs for inspections.
  • Check functionality of systems (ex. Fire alarms, emergency exit lights and elevators).
  • REAC inspections.
  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
  • Meeting deliveries and escorting vendors to the appropriate room to unload bulk items.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly, maintaining tool inventory.
  • Report major damage to the Director of Maintenance.
  • Communicating regularly with the Director of Maintenance and participating in regular meetings to assure readiness of the facility for all activities.
  • Coverage for schedule/unscheduled time off within the maintenance team.
  • Available to participate in weekly team on -call rotation.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

  • Minimum 1 year experience and/or knowledge of basic mechanical projects/basic repairs is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
