Job description

Position Summary:

The purpose of this job is to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, electrical and general maintenance work such as installation, fabrication, assembly, setup, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment, services, and facilities. The work requires the use of hand and maintenance tools, skills, and the ability to work from blueprints, sketches, written, and verbal instructions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Perform work on energized lines, circuits, and connections with voltages ranging from 100V to 440V.
  2. Work with voltages up to 12,500V at distribution transformers as necessary.
  3. Make hot cutovers when required.
  4. Operate various equipment including saws, pipe threaders, drills, gauges, meters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, diagnostic equipment, micrometers, forklifts, hand trucks, machine tools, welding equipment, ladders, lifts, etc.
  5. Provide cross-training for other skills.
  6. Work independently, coordinate preventive maintenance, rebuilds, shutdowns, and tasks, and supervise other employees as required.
  7. Display innovativeness in solving complex problems and train others in maintenance techniques for sensitive processes.
  8. Work effectively as part of a team.
  9. Write process documentation and prepare maintenance projects and layouts.
  10. Interface with customers, vendors, and suppliers.
  11. Ensure the quality, timeliness, and proper methods of work.
Required Qualifications:
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Two-year Electrical Technician/Electrician degree preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and best practices.
  • Ability to handle 16-50 lbs., work overhead in tiring positions, and perform bench work repairing instruments and motors.
  • Experience repairing machinery, troubleshooting live circuitry.
  • Proficiency with computers and equipment used in maintenance tasks.
