Job summary

Rural King is hiring a Maintenance Associate for our Cumberland, MD area store to ensure cleanliness, safety, and the overall upkeep of the store environment.

You will perform cleaning, routine maintenance, and minor repairs, while supporting store operations and guest experience. This role requires attention to detail, strong math for cash handling, and flexibility to work a 40-hour week including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 3 years of retail cashier or supervisory experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong math skills for accurate cash handling.
• Demonstrated ability to thoroughly review and analyze information, identifying errors or inconsistencies to maintain high levels of accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills to implement policies and procedures, direct staff, and provide customer service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas, instructions, and information clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated ability to actively listen, ask relevant questions, and provide thorough and articulate responses.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Comfortable navigating computer systems and software to assist customers or manage activities.
• Flexibility with hours: ability to work a 40-hour workweek with varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business dictates.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to uphold the store’s appearance and hygiene standards.
• Sweep, mop, and run floor scrubber regularly to keep a clean and safe surface for both customers and associates.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace garbage bags to maintain a tidy environment.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and breakrooms, ensuring they are well-stocked with essential supplies.
• Wipe down surfaces such as counters, display shelves, and fixtures to maintain a polished and organized presentation.
• Conduct basic repairs and maintenance activities such as changing light bulbs, fixing minor plumbing issues, and repairing damaged fixtures.
• Monitor and report any safety hazards, malfunctioning equipment, or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist in store activities such as unloading trucks, stocking, or zoning merchandise when time allows.
• Preserve an uncluttered exterior by managing parking lot cleanliness and trash removal.
• Operate a floor scrubber proficiently.
• Participate in cross-training for flexibility in various departments and responsibilities.
• Actively participate in learning initiatives offered such as training programs, workshops, and webinars.
• Provide friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support to others, assisting with inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and effectively.

What You’ll do
