Summary of Position

The MaintenanceAssistant is responsible for preventative maintenance and repairing items suchas machinery, vehicles, physical structures, pipes, electrical systems, HVAC,as well as other duties to ensure a clean, safe, and productive environment atTempered and Specialty Metals (TSM).

Responsibilities and Duties

As a minimum, thefollowing is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilitiesexpected of the Maintenance Assistant position. These duties are notexhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organizationrequire.

• Inspectand test machinery and equipment according to the manufacturer’sspecifications.
• Performpreventative maintenance on company assets according to manufacturesspecifications and scheduling.
• Dismantledefective items and install new or repaired parts.
• Performmaintenance service repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting,plastering, machine servicing, electrical, fabrication, welding and vehicleservicing.
• Cleanand lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
• Repairand maintain physical structure of establishment.
• FollowHazardous Chemicals policies.
• Safelyand properly operate cranes, forklift trucks, man lift and applying saferigging.
• Useproper tie off to safety line while working above floor level.
• Operatecutting torch or welding equipment.
• Applyall lock-out/tag-out procedures during repairs.
• Maintaintooling for machines and equipment according to specifications.
• Ensuremachine and asset availability.
• Maintainfacility, equipment, and vehicles.
• Keepa clean and safe work environment.
• Adhere to all TSM safety rules, regulations, andquality standards.
• Adhere to all TSM handbookpolicies and procedures.

RequiredQualifications

• HighSchool diploma or equivalent
• Two or more years of warehouse maintenance experience
• Two or more years of experience in electrical repairs
• Two or more years as a machine operator
• Equipment and product knowledge
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
• Ability to measure using different tools
• Ability to read and transfer data accurately
• Basic math and computer skills
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
• Strong work ether; self-motivated
• Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, suppliers, and management
• Valid State Driver's License; safe driving record

PreferredQualifications

• Four or more years of warehouse maintenance experience
• Four or more years of experience in electrical repairs
• Four or more years as a machine operator
