Welcome to Distinctive Living. We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant Full-Time for our Senior Living Community, Inspired Living, located in Ocoee, Florida.

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the general maintenance, service, and repair of the interior and exterior of the community, adhering to federal, state, and local standards/regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler systems, generator, landscaping, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cords.
  2. Carry out general maintenance projects, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and equipment repairs.
  3. Respond to maintenance requests for repairs in resident rooms, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and lighting replacements.
  4. Maintain vacated rooms promptly, including painting walls and cleaning carpets.
  5. Ensure proper maintenance of walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in common areas.
  6. Maintain communication with local fire marshals, building inspectors, elevator inspectors, and other relevant authorities.
  7. Assess plumbing and electrical issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  8. Work within legal codes and document safety concerns and physical deficiencies in compliance with regulations. Review safety data sheets (SDS) for hazardous chemicals and take necessary precautions.
  9. Evaluate property damage and process claims according to company policy.
  10. Respond to emergencies collaboratively with management and the community.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience or training.
  • Knowledge of building systems, codes, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, especially in healthcare facilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
