Job summary

Accela Rehab & Care Center at Manalapan is seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant to help maintain the facility, equipment, grounds, and building systems to ensure a safe, clean, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to perform a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in commercial, healthcare, nursing home, apartment, hotel, or building maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, alarm systems, and general construction preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and safety throughout assigned common areas and facility spaces.
• Ensure equipment is clean, safe, and in proper working condition.
• Remove trash, soiled linens, and other materials as required.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs involving windows, screens, light bulbs, air filters, refrigerators, freezers, heating and cooling equipment, and other facility systems.
• Assist with fire drills, emergency procedures, and building evacuations.
• Complete assigned life safety and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Maintain required maintenance, plant operations, and life safety records.
• Perform safety inspections and audits as assigned.
• Repair and replace light fixtures and other building components.
• Test and document water temperatures according to facility requirements.
• Repair and maintain call systems, cords, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial washers and dryers.
• Inspect fire extinguishers and ensure they are properly maintained and up to date.
• Repair or replace ceiling tiles, drywall, walls, flooring, and other building materials.
• Perform painting, caulking, furniture repair, stripping, and staining as needed.
• Assist with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance, and general building repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Follow all facility safety procedures, policies, and applicable regulations.
• Work cooperatively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and visitors.
